#SML in the community

Who are we?

#SML (Saturday Morning Learning) is a vibrant group of Power BI and Microsoft Fabric enthusiasts. We started meeting before the Guy in a Cube live streams on Saturday Mornings (US time) to help each other learn. You will see us in many community settings, including SQL Saturday and Data Saturday events, usually giving a session.

We are learners

The Power BI ecosystem is always changing, and we are constantly striving to stay ahead of the curve. New features, updates, and best practices emerge regularly, and with them come new opportunities to grow. But we recognize that we can’t do it alone. That’s why we embrace a culture of continuous learning — from each other, from the broader community, and from every challenge we encounter. We ask questions, share insights, and remain open to feedback, knowing that every step forward is a chance to improve. Learning isn’t just something we do — it’s who we are.

We believe in community

We believe that two heads — or twenty — are better than one. Collaboration fuels innovation, and the best solutions often come from diverse voices coming together with a shared purpose. We know that a rising tide lifts all boats, and when one of us grows, we all benefit. That’s why we openly share what we learn, celebrate each other’s wins, and support one another through challenges. Knowledge is not something to be hoarded — it’s something to be multiplied. By fostering a strong, connected community, we create an environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

We are curious

We are not afraid of new ideas, unfamiliar concepts, or complex challenges — in fact, we seek them out. Curiosity is at the heart of everything we do. It drives us to ask better questions, to dig deeper, and to explore the “why” behind the “what.” We don’t settle for the status quo; we challenge assumptions, experiment with new approaches, and continuously look for ways to improve. For us, curiosity isn’t just about discovery — it’s about growth. It keeps us agile, open-minded, and ready for whatever comes next.

We are diverse and welcoming

Anyone can join us — and everyone is welcome. Our community spans continents, cultures, backgrounds, and experiences. We are beginners taking our first steps and seasoned experts with years of insight in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric. What connects us is not where we’re from or how much we know, but a shared passion for learning, growing, and helping one another. We believe that diversity is our strength — it brings fresh perspectives, sparks creativity, and makes our community richer and more resilient. No matter who you are or where you’re starting from, you belong here.

We all love Power BI!

At the heart of our community is a shared passion for data — and a deep love for Microsoft Power BI. We are energized by the possibilities it brings: turning raw information into clear, compelling insights, and helping others make better decisions through data. Whether we’re building reports, exploring the capabilities of Microsoft Fabric, or mentoring others on their data journey, we do it with excitement and pride. Power BI isn’t just a tool to us — it’s a platform for creativity, collaboration, and impact. And we’re here because we believe in its power to transform how people see and understand their world.

Who can join?

Our group is open to everyone who is passionate about Power BI and Fabric. Our Saturday Morning Team calls are by invitation only. This ensures that we have members joining who will engage most of the time. This is what makes us different than other User Groups. If you prefer learning from Presentations or not committing to a set weekly time, please visit the Microsoft Fabric User Group Network to find one near you.

What to expect

The SML Team calls are anything but ordinary. They’re unscripted, open discussions where curiosity leads the way. Most of the time, there’s no strict agenda — just a group of passionate people coming together to share, learn, and explore. Sometimes we’ll feature a guest speaker or dive into a specific topic, which might give the conversation a bit more structure. But even then, things can take unexpected turns — and that’s part of the magic. These calls can be a little chaotic, always dynamic, and consistently engaging. Whether you’re here to listen, ask questions, or contribute your own insights, you’ll find a space that’s informal, inclusive, and fun.
